What is Skinvive™?

Skinvive™ is an injectable skin booster made with a specially formulated hyaluronic acid (HA) gel. Unlike traditional dermal fillers that add volume or shape, Skinvive is designed to improve skin quality — increasing hydration, smoothness, and natural radiance.

It is part of the Juvéderm® range of aesthetic products.

How does Skinvive™ work?

Skinvive uses a micro-droplet injection technique to place tiny amounts of HA into the superficial layers of the skin. The hyaluronic acid attracts and retains water, enhancing moisture levels and improving the texture and elasticity of the skin. Over time, this can reduce the appearance of fine lines and give the skin a healthier, glowing appearance.

What concerns can Skinvive™ help with?

Skinvive may help with:

  • Dry or dehydrated skin
  • Fine lines and rough texture
  • Dull or tired-looking complexion
  • Uneven skin quality
  • Loss of skin elasticity
  • Improving overall radiance and smoothness

Unlike traditional fillers, it does not change facial shape or volume.

Where can it be used?

The primary licensed area for Skinvive is the cheeks to improve skin smoothness and hydration, but practitioners may use it off-label in other areas such as:

  • Face
  • Neck
  • Décolletage
  • Hands

What to expect during treatment

  • A full consultation is required before treatment
  • Treatment usually takes around 10–30 minutes
  • A fine needle is used to deliver multiple tiny injections into the skin
  • Most products contain a small amount of lidocaine (local anaesthetic) to improve comfort
  • You can usually return to daily activities immediately

When will I see results?

  • Some improvement can be noticed within a few days
  • Full effects typically develop over 2–4 weeks as the HA integrates and hydration improves
  • Results can last around 6–9 months before retreatment may be considered

Possible side effects

Common and usually temporary side effects include:

  • Redness or warmth
  • Small bumps at injection points
  • Mild swelling
  • Bruising
  • Tenderness or itchiness

These reactions generally resolve within a few days.

Rare but more serious risks are similar to other hyaluronic acid injections and include:

  • Infection
  • Allergic reactions
  • Vascular injury if injected into a blood vessel (very rare)

Seek immediate help if you experience severe pain, changes in vision, or persistent blanching of the skin.

Who should NOT have Skinvive™?

You may not be suitable for this treatment if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Have a known allergy to HA, lidocaine, or other ingredients
  • Have an active skin infection, inflammation, or rash at the treatment site
  • Have certain autoimmune conditions unless medically cleared

Always disclose your full medical history during consultation.
